incarcerated by hope

i stumbled upon this website, Tiny Mix Tapes which I found very interesting. In the website, there is something called Automatic Mix Tapes Generator. You can write down anything, a phrase, quotation, question, etc under Mix Tape Request and the Generator will create a tracklisting of a mix tape out of it.

There is one of the mix tapes created that really captured me:

Songs that say "fuck you, I’ll be a starving artist even if it means living in my friend’s basement for the rest of my life."

how awesome.

Long time ago, making a mixtape was hard work. You must have those big tape deck with 2 cassette players, rewind/fast forward to find the song you want, and record the songs one by one. To give your girlfriend a mixtape back then was something. With computers, now it's just drag-and-drop. The art is lost by means of technological advancement. However, the feeling is still around. Every single mixtape is special because you cannot find that in stores and unlike everything else in the world, it is not mass produced in China. A mixtape is personal, and your mixtape is you.

Currently I'm too busy to make a mixtape for myself, but once this is all over and I have the time, the mixtape will be titled "Songs you listen to when you lie down on your bed, only with a pile of good books and all the time in the world"

song of the day: Nina Simone - Ain't Got No... I've Got Life
